Where can I find prices and availabilities?

Please check the booking calendar on our website for accommodation and tours. We don’t offer any discounts and if we offer packages you can find them also in the booking calendar. You can see availabilities of tours when you click on the button next to the corresponding tour.

Are bed linen and towels included?

No, they are per person 90SEK for bed linen and 20SEK for a towel for the whole stay. Of course, you can also bring your own bed linen or sleeping bag and towel. Every bed has a pillow and a blanket, if you should need additional ones please ask at the reception.

What facilities does your hostel have?

Each floor has a shared kitchen and one toilet with a sink. We have shared showers in a building a few meters next to the hostel. We have a sauna every evening from 19:00 to 20:00 (included in the price). All our rooms have Wifi.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 2 pm. If you arrive earlier you can leave your luggage here and start exploring Abisko until your room is ready.
Check-out is at 11 am. If you have to wait for your train you can leave your luggage here.

 

Are your dorm rooms mixed?

Yes, we don’t have any rooms only for females or males.

Are dogs allowed in your hostel?

Yes, but we have only one suitable room (a 2 bed room) where you can stay with your dog. Having the dog in the shared kitchen is not allowed.

Do you offer food?

We don’t offer any food, but we have shared kitchens with fridge, oven and space to store your food, and there’s a small supermarket in walking distance. There’s also a restaurant next to the hostel, for more info on the restaurant contact www.abiskomountainlodge.se

What about warm clothes and winter equipment?

In Winter it’s best to dress in layers. Warm underwear is a must.
From December to February we have only 4 hours day light, so you need a good torch, preferably a headtorch. Be aware that batteries run low faster when it’s really cold.

For guests of our hostel:
You can rent warm clothes (ski overall, boots, gloves) at our reception for 150SEK and/or ski equipment (cross-country skies and snowshoes) for 150SEK. The price is for the whole stay in our hostel.
If you book a dogsledding tour clothes, cross-country skis and snowshoes are included for your whole stay in our hostel.

For guests who don’t stay in our hostel:
If you book one of our dogsledding tours warm clothes (ski overall, boots, gloves) are included.
We don’t rent clothes or equipment to guests who don’t stay in our hostel.

What if I have to cancel my booking?

If you cancel
– 4 weeks before arrival you get 100% (-100SEK cancellation fee) back
– 4 weeks-2 weeks before arrival you get 50% (-100SEK cancellation fee) back
– 2 weeks-0 weeks before arrival you won’t get any money back.

What winter activities do you offer?

If you come during winter season (November-April) to Abisko we have plenty of winter activities you can book directly via our website www.abisko.net (dogsledding tours, Northern Lights tours and much more!).

Do you offer shuttle services?

No, but you can check www.visitabisko.com, they offer several shuttle services to popular places in the area and also a shuttle service from and to Kiruna airport.

How do I get to Abisko?

Arrival by plane
If you arrive by plane at Kiruna Airport you can take from there the airport shuttle to Abisko.

Arrival by train
When you get off at the train stop Abisko Östra you will go under the railway, when you are in the tunnel you turn right and walk up the hill, after that you will see signs to Abisko.net (pointing left). The total distance from the train station to our hostel is around 250m.

Arrival by bus or car
You walk/drive towards the train station, follow the signs to “Abisko.net” once you have passed the tunnel under the railway you turn left and you will see the sign that read Abisko.net The total distance from the bus stop Abisko Östra to our hostel is around 500m.

Can I see the Northern Lights during my stay in Abisko?

Well, we can’t predict the future so it needs some effort and luck to see them. Not for nothing it’s called “Aurora Hunting” 😉 Best time to see them is in winter season when it’s really dark, it’s possible to see them from October to the beginning of April. You can book one of the Aurora Hunting tours on our website or try your luck yourself. There’s some good places in walking distance of the hostel and you can even see the lights from the hostel. The Northern Lights are not always there, and if they are there you need clear sky to see them.

Can I go dogsledding in November?

It depends on the snow. If there is enough snow, we will start the tours. If you’d like to book a tour in November you can do so via e-mail and pay upon arrival. If the tour is cancelled due to the snow conditions… well no snow, no dogsledding.

Can my kids go dogsledding?

Yes, but not under 5 years. For the Winterday tour (self-driving) the age limit is 16 years.

How can I visit the Aurora Sky Station?

You can reach the Aurora Sky Station by taking the lift, the ground station is around 3km walking distance from our hostel. You can walk or take a train or bus, if there’s one available. You can find more information on auroraskystation.se.

Can I go skiing in Abisko?

There is a lit cross-country ski track close to the hostel and you can find downhill skiing lifts in Björkliden (10km) and Riksgränsen (25km).
