Join us on a memorable hike to Trollsjön – Sweden’s clearest alpine lake with an impressive visibility depth of 37 meters. The hike takes about 6–8 hours, depending on weather, and follows the breathtaking Kärkevagge valley – a rocky labyrinth rumored to contain over 3,000 caves.

Trollsjön (in Sámi: Rissajaure, “the lake that glows like fire”) is situated at 815 meters above sea level at the foot of the Gearggecorru and Vassejietnja peaks. The lake is fed by glacial meltwater and surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Along the trail, you might spot reindeer, ptarmigans, lemmings, mountain hares and birds of prey – plus alpine flora such as monkshood, buttercups, cotton grass and dwarf birch. Bring binoculars and a flora guide to enhance your experience!

This tour requires good physical fitness and balance, as we move through uneven and rocky mountain terrain. It’s ideal for those who enjoy a full day outdoors and are comfortable in all kinds of weather.

Meeting point: Abisko.net Hostel & Huskies reception (Lapportsvägen 32)

Join us for a peaceful evening hike under the golden glow of the midnight sun. Starting at 10:00 PM, we walk gently through the quiet night, climbing toward a scenic viewpoint where the world feels still – bathed in soft Arctic light that never quite disappears.

Each guest is welcome to hike with a huskie – one dog per person, if you’d like. Or simply walk without, soaking in the calm while the dogs trot along beside the group. However you join, this is a shared moment between people, huskys, and mountains.

Once we’ve reached the top, we pause for a classic Swedish fika – warm drinks and something sweet, enjoyed in silence or shared laughter, with panoramic views and wagging tails all around.

A short walk with a long afterglow – this is the mountains at their most magical.

This is a calm, shorter hike with a gentle uphill section. No previous hiking experience is needed, but good balance and steady walking shoes are important.

Please note: The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon, and visibility depends on the weather. Even on cloudy nights, the atmosphere and light are truly special – but the sun itself can’t be guaranteed.

There are no toilets along the trail – nature is our closest option.

Inkanjaure

Hiking Tour

Adult: 2190 SEK
Student: 1790 SEK
Child (7-12 years): 1590 SEK
Time: 9.00 AM – 5.00 PM
Distance: 12 km
Minimum age: 7 years

This guided hike takes you to the hidden mountain lake Inkanjaure – a place where few visitors ever set foot. The lake lies in Kiruna municipality, Lapland, and is part of the Torne River’s main catchment area. The journey itself is part of the adventure: we follow trails and open terrain through birch forest, mountain heath and rolling ridges, until the landscape opens up towards the still waters of Inkanjaure.

Along the way, we will learn about the unique geology and the traces of the ice age that still shape the area. The shifting vegetation shows the adaptation of life in the Arctic – from lush birch woods to small, resilient alpine plants. It is not unusual to spot reindeer in these parts, and with some luck we may encounter moose, ptarmigan or other wildlife that thrive in this untouched valley.

When we reach the lake, we take a well-deserved break for lunch in the open air. Inkanjaure carries a sense of remoteness and timelessness, with views stretching across surrounding peaks and valleys. Old prospection sites nearby tell the story of how people once dreamed of mining copper here – traces that can still be seen in the landscape.

After lunch we begin our return, enriched with impressions of silence, wilderness and Arctic beauty. With included transfers from Abisko and Björkliden, this tour is a comfortable yet unforgettable way to experience one of Lapland’s hidden gems.
